More than 20,000 cheer and dance fans are expected to flock to the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls (SCCN) for the Cheer Evolution Cheer and Dance Championship beginning Friday, May 10 and continuing through Sunday May 12. Nearly 200 Canadian cheer and dance teams will be competing for a Championship title across the different divisions and age groups throughout the weekend.

Bill Kernan is an extremely proud father. Jenny, his 12-year-old daughter is the coach of the Shining Starz, a special needs cheer team. She also gives up 3 of her lunch breaks at her school per week to help the special needs children there. Jenny has made it her mission in life to make a difference to the special needs students and cheerleaders in her life. Jenny wants to use cheerleading to help get a good education by getting a college scholarship so she can become a vegetarian. She plans to one day use her money to open an all-star cheerleading gym that specializes in special needs.

There are so many great teams out there doing great things and three teams in particular are making noise! Champion Legacy from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Exisdanz from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, 5678! Dance from North Sioux City, South Dakota and Center Stage Dance from Savage, Minnesota, will be representing DX - Dance Xtreme USA at the USASF Dance Worlds Championship this upcoming April 27-29, 2013, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

AUSTIN, Texas (October 30, 2012) World champion cheerleader, Maddie Gardner, has won again with a licensing agreement struck with Montreal-based manufacturer Kick’s Athletick’s. Kick’s has created a line of trendy, unique workout gear with the Maddie Gardner Collection, “MGC’’, label. Gardner traveled to Canada to finalize the collection with Kick’s Athletick’s earlier in the month. Gardner took a hands-on approach to the design process, providing the final decisions in color and style. The clothing line is created for teams and may be worn inside and outside the gym.

Cheer event raises money for cancer research

AUSTIN, Texas--- Cheer Channel Inc. (CCI) announced today that they will debut the world premiere of the first original Web series produced specifically for the spirit industry, "Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader," in early April.

About 136 former cheerleaders got together to do a dance routine to benefit "Susan G. Komen for the Cure" (Breast Cancer). Each time someone views the video, United Healthcare will make a $.10 donation to the Komen organization. Their goal is to get a million hits, which will lead to $100K raised.
