Like father like daughter? Doug Flutie went down in history for his long and storied career in college football and later in the NFL. A "Hail Mary" Touchdown pass against Miami became known as the "Hail Flutie," and according to Wikipedia is considered one of the greatest moments in college football history. Older brother Darren also had a successful football career, though the two have now left sports behind for such pursuits as a band they have together.

Not so for other members of the family tree! Doug's daughter Alexa Flutie just became one of 31 lucky women selected to join the New England Patriots Cheerleaders. Beating out almost 300 other candidates, she will join the team this season as a rookie cheerleader. She graduated Dean College with a BA in Dance and helps the family raise money for autism charities, in honor of a younger sibling with the condition.

Dad is supportive of daughter's new career moves. "He knows that I'm doing this because I want to perform and that I love it," Alexa told Yahoo! Sports in a lengthy profile of the family.
