Buffalo ENVY All Star Cheerleading is a 10,000 square foot cheerleading-only gym in Buffalo, New York, co-owned by sisters Julie Antonio, Colleen Bugman, Katie Willis & very close friend Rebecca Onello. It has been producing national title winning teams since they opened four years ago. Co-owner and coach Julie Antonio told us how Buffalo ENVY is making a name in cheering.
Cheer Channel: Tell me how Buffalo ENVY started.
Julie: I competed in a high school team and was amazed at the all-stars. As my sisters and I got older, we realized we weren't done cheering. We decided to start an all-star program. After a few years we created a program we had sole control over, to allow us to make decisions with honesty and integrity.
CC: What have been your proudest moments as a coach?
J: Some have occurred during the season like hearing our name called for a Worlds Bid. Other moments have been outside of the gym; a former athlete made the University of Louisville cheer team and sent me a picture of her cheering at the first game.
CC: What is the coaching style of Buffalo Envy?
J: We help kids reach their potential while building self-esteem. We do team bonding so the kids know we believe in them as much as they believe in us. Winning doesn’t always mean taking first place. Seeing happy kids, parents and coaches means we are doing this right.
Cheer Channel looks forward to hearing more great things from Buffalo ENVY.
