Former cheerleader, Kelly Ripa produces new reality show on competitive cheerleading.
This fall, Country Music Television (CMT) will debut “Cheer”, a new reality series that follows cheer coach, Patty Ann Romero, and her team on their journey toward the world cheerleading championships. The series, which is produced by former high school cheerleader Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos, will couple with CMT’s wildly popular “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” to round out the network’s growing block of cheerleading related programming. “Cheer” follows Romero’s team of 20 top athletes as they try to juggle the rigors and demands of competitive cheering with their outside lives as normal teenagers. While Romero is a hard-line coach in the gym, she acts as a surrogate mother to the girls, helping them succeed in competition and in life. The series will give the outside world a glimpse into the dedicated lives of these young athletes.
