The competition was fierce as more than 100 girls gathered to audition on August 11, 2011 for a spot on the Thunder Girls dance team in Oklahoma City. The auditions lasted five exciting and nerve-wracking days for the candidates. At the end of the high energy auditions only eight members were welcomed into the Thunder Girl family, along with the current 12 already on the dance team. More than a thousand fans showed their ongoing support for the girls auditioning for a rare spot on the dance team.


With a new dance team in the works the Thunder Girls also welcomed Paige Carter as their new manager. Paige has had an extensive career in professional cheerleading with the Phoenix Suns and is expected to bring that knowledge to her new manager position. Her degree in Fine Arts in Dance has paved the way for her work with the Thunder Girls. Since stepping into her new position she was also able to help with the 2011-2012 auditions. The Thunder Girls will share their new manager with the Arizona Cardinal cheerleaders as she continues to develop and train in their program.
