Emma Franklin has a a new life and a secret she holds deep within the pages of her diary. At 17, she has been an all-star cheerleader most of her life and more recently was a member of the world-class national champions, the "Angels". Having moved to a new town in the middle of the school year, she knows that she could try out as a flyer for the local gym for a chance to be part of the Silver Extreme All-Stars.
To her teammates, Emma is a girl with the perfect life: a beautiful, big house, she's rich, and has successful parents as well as some killer insights she picked up from the Angels that could help the new team win Nationals. But Emma is hiding a much darker reality: a family shattered, a life upended, and a once promising cheerleading life derailed by a terrible secret. To keep her real problems under wraps, Emma feels she has no choice but to become someone she is not. Emma soon realizes that her hopes for a perfect little life may not be as simple as she originally thought. With every secret comes the jolting realization that if you tell anyone or if anyone finds out, it's no longer a secret.
Blog 2 – A Family Worth the Wait
It's been a bumpy road for Emma. Losing a parent, moving to a new city, leaving her amazing cheer squad as well as adjust to the income of one parent. Giving up cheerleading was the last thing anyone who loves cheerleading would ever want but to and step up to be a grown up for a little brother all the while trying to cope with the losses well, that’s just a painful.
Making new friends is tough but moving to a new city because your life has been turned upside down, well, not exactly a magnet for popularity. Who wouldn't want to run and hide? So while her lying seemed like a good idea at the time so she could somehow her forget and indeed pretend life was still perfect, she realized early things were out of control…. that her “perfect life” was doomed to end sooner or later.
After a good cry and some encouragement from her dad, Emma finally faces her fear and the guilt she feels by asking her dad if he blamed her for the accident. And, when she receives the encouragement she needed to make things right as her dad put it, she had the courage to tell the truth about those losses in her life and particularly the reason she was afraid no one would like her. She didn’t want anyone to dislike her or to feel sorry for her. More importantly, she wanted to try to forget how she blamed herself for surviving a car crash that killed her mother in drunk driving accident; the same accident that injured Emma and caused her to stop flying (at least for a time).
Luckily, Emma made some great new friends on the Extremes and this new cheer family welcomes her with open arms accepting her for who she really is. Emma and the squad are flying high, all the way to Nationals!

As we can see, Emma attempts to recreate her life through lies, and it all seems perfect. But will the jealousy of the new girls on the squad sabatoge Emma's make believe life? And what is she hiding anyway?
